‘Victims’ of GO Ns. 317 and 46 can now seek transfers
All affected employees and teachers can apply for transfers online from June 14 to 30
Hyderabad: In a significant development, the cabinet sub-committee on GO 317 and GO 46 has decided to give an opportunity to all affected employees and teachers to apply for transfers in online mode from June 14 to 30. The BRS government had brought these two controversial GOs and resorted to indiscriminate transfers of employees and teachers through GO 317 besides giving unfair advantage to candidates from urban areas in government job recruitment exams over rural areas through GO 46.
The affected employees and teachers have been agitating ever since demanding scrapping of both GOs and reinstating them to their earlier locations based on seniority. The Congress promised to abolish the GOs during the Assembly elections. Accordingly, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy constituted a cabinet sub-committee, led by health minister Damodara Rajanarasimha, to look into the controversial GOs and make recommendations on resolving the issues.
The cabinet sub-committee met at the Secretariat on Wednesday and deliberated at length on the measures needed to be taken to resolve the grievances of those affected by the GOs.
GO 46 stipulates that 95 per cent of posts in contiguous cadres must be reserved and allocated to local candidates based on the prescribed ratios. Their concerns focused on the perceived unfair advantage conferred upon candidates from urban centres like Hyderabad, potentially marginalising those from rural districts, regardless of their merit.
The cabinet sub-committee took several decisions to resolve these contentious issues. Applicants now have the option to declare their local status through the official website.
Those employees and teachers, whose spouses are central government employees have been given a specific option to submit their applications for transfers.
Provisions have been made to submit multiple applications.
Approximately, 12,011 applications have been received so far and these will undergo re-verification. After applying online, employees will receive updates about their application status on their mobile phones.
These decisions are expected to streamline the application process and provide greater transparency and convenience for employees.
