 Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam police have apprehended a 33-year-old man for the theft of valuables from the residence of a senior citizen. The incident, which took place in August, has been resolved with the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen property.

Bhuddha Annapurna, a 70-year-old resident of MVP Colony, reported the theft of two gold bangles and Rs 1,000 in cash to the MVP Police Station on Tuesday. The theft occurred between 5.30 and 6 pm on August 7, 2022, with the total value of the stolen items estimated at Rs 26,000.

Following the complaint, police officials launched a thorough investigation that led them to identify the suspect as Jandhyala Hema Chandu, a manager at a private IT company. The investigation revealed that Chandu had committed the theft while at work, taking advantage of a moment when no other employees were present. Furthermore, it was revealed that he has a history of addiction issues.

Acting on the gathered evidence, the police apprehended Chandu on Wednesday. During the interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen gold bangles valued at approximately Rs 25,000.
