Vishweshwar Reddy: Waqf Bill Aims for Fairness, Not Anti-Muslim

Hyderabad: BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy said the proposed Waqf Board Amendment Bill was not directed against the Muslim community. He said the bill aimed to address constitutional inconsistencies and misuse of Waqf land regulations.

He that 90 acres in Guttala Begumpet had been occupied in the name of the Waqf Board. Vishweshwar Reddy said the Waqf Board Amendment Bill, set to be introduced in Parliament during the Winter Session, would brings legality and fairness to Waqf related matters.

Vishweshwar Reddy noted that the legislation would also grant rights to Muslim women and curb illegal practices with regard to Waqf properties. He said even in Muslim majority countries, Waqf properties were government regulated and not religion controlled.
