Hyderabad: A war of words took place between the Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy and BRS MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) in Telangana Assembly here on Saturday over 24-hour free power supply to the agriculture sector during the BRS regime.

Reddy challenged KTR that he would resign if the latter proved that 24-hour free power was supplied to farmers. He said, if necessary, he would show the log book to prove that BRS failed to provide 24-hour power supply.

Heated arguments took place between the ruling and opposition benches over the power supply issue and Rythu Bandhu scheme implemented by the BRS government. Participating in a short discussion on the Rythu Bharosa scheme of the Congress government, KTR claimed that it was former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who gave 24-hour free power supply to the agriculture sector in the country.

During the BRS regime, the acreage was increased significantly and Nalgonda district became greener. In response to KTR’s claims, Reddy intervened and offered to resign if KTR proved that 24-hour power was supplied to the sector and he was also ready to show the logbook.

He said the Congress would get the credit of giving free power supply to farmers. The BRS did friendship with the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during its tenure and rendered injustice to Telangana in sharing Krishna waters.

It was the same BRS, which failed to implement the promise of giving three-acre land to dalits in the State. The State went back to 100 years during the 10-year rule of the BRS, damaging all the systems in the government. Continuing his tirade against KTR, Reddy said the former was misleading the House by speaking lies.

Reddy clarified that Nalgonda did not get water to one additional acre in the district in the last 10 years.
