Hyderabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) here on Monday arrested a woman for allegedly stealing two bag containing gold ornaments and other valuables of a train passenger at Secunderabad Railway Station on Sunday.

The arrested woman has been identified as Dasari Manjula alias Pendyla Manjula (31), a labourer and resident of Banswada in Kamareddy. The police recovered two bags containing gold ornaments weighing about 56 grams all worth over Rs.3.92 lakh.

In his complaint, Ch. Upender, a resident of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, said he along with his wife Pushpa came to Kacheguda Railway Station on May 25 and boarded Secunderabad Express bound to Guntur on platform-I. They sat at seat-46 in S6 compartment and kept two bags on the berth. Later, the couple came to the door to send off their children.

When they returned, the bags with gold ornaments were missing. During investigation on Sunday, the police found a woman moving under suspicious circumstances along with two bags on platform-I at Secunderabad railway station.

On seeing the police, she tried to escape but the police nabbed her and after being grilled, she admitted to the crime.
