Warangal: The role of pharmacists is most important in emergency situations and in response to public healthcare, said district health officer Dr K. Lalitha Devi.

She attended as a chief guest to the World Pharmacist Day celebrations held here at the conference hall of the District Medical and Health Office (DM&HO) organised by the Telangana Government Pharmacists Association under the leadership of state president B. Sudharshan Goud in Hanamkonda on Thursday.
Appreciating the role played by the pharmacists during the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, Dr. Lalitha Devi said that pharmacists ensured the continuity of supply of medicine, and essential healthcare services and contributed to disaster relief efforts in emergency situations across the country.
She said it is learned that the workload on pharmacists working in government health sector has increased. Keeping in view that to reduce the workload very soon two pharmacist posts would be sanctioned in all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the district, she promised.
Special guest of the event, District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Venkataramana, appealed to all pharmacists not to sell medicines to people without a prescription and promised them of resolving all their issues.
Association working president K. Sharath Babu, central drug store incharge Uppu Bhaskar Rao, drug inspector Jannu Ravi Kirna, association members Dr R. Satyanarayana, Satish, Prem Sagar, Avinash, Nagamani, Jhansi, Shoba and Ajitha were present.
