Kurnool: The exclusion of teachers from polling duties in Kurnool district raised several questions. Teachers, who are traditionally linked with the election duties, were not taken as the POs and APOs, this time.

During the local body elections, the government utilized nearly 50 per cent of their services.

Reportedly, over 300 teachers were even given training in counting duties during the 2024 general elections. The teachers are also surprised over why they have been set aside in the last minute even while they had attended the training twice in the last few days.

The higher officials are also remaining silent over the questions being posed by the teachers. It is being said that their services are not being utilized because they are under the purview of the management of the local bodies and so ineligible for the duties.

The teachers are perplexed over why had they be given training if they are ineligible.

Teachers associated only with the government schools were entrusted with the counting duties and those working as SGTs under the Zilla Parishad management and school assistants too have been excluded from the counting of votes.
