Really Paw-Some Communicators
Pet lovers are turning to pet psychics and animal whisperers to decode the pain of their ailing pets and also get in touch with their deceased purr-fect companions
The loss of a pet is immeasurable. It is even worse if your fur baby is ailing because you are unable to communicate and feel helpless. But worry not, there are several self-claimed ‘pet psychics’ and ‘animal telepathy communicators’ claiming to be “the voice to the voiceless.” These pet psychics claim to possess mystic senses to convey and receive messages from animals. Thus, bridging the communication gap between humans and their pets. But before you dial this paw-some communicators take a cursory look at their charges. A reputed animal communicator charges anywhere between Rs 700 and Rs 4,000 for a 60-90-minute session (depending on client demands) while a pet psychic charges Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 for a Whatsapp consultation. Opinions are divided over this ‘pet communication’ trend. Most veterinary doctors rebuff the concept as mere puffery, while pet psychics swear by their supernatural powers.
Purr-fect Relationship
The most common psychological mechanism to combat loneliness is to adopt a pet. Some negligent pet owners leave their pets at the mercy of their minds, leading to their pets wandering off. Others struggle to cope with the intense trauma of losing their four-legged best friends after an illness or old age. Pet owners are increasingly relying on ‘animal communicators’ to act as messengers and convey messages to their dead or lost pets. These communicators achieve a state of groundedness [meditation] and rely on visual cues, auditory senses, interpretation, and chemical signals to communicate with the voiceless and convey their message to those with a voice. Reshma Baran Motwani, an interspecies telepathic communicator specialises in talking to missing and deceased animals. She says, “Animals possess their own voice and serve as guiding lights of solutions for humans.
The process of establishing communication with animals is achieved through continuous practice, relearning, and tapping into one’s telepathic abilities.”
Reshma has communicated with over 5,000 animal species and gets 20 inquiries in a day. She gets the maximum demand to act as a “communicator” between pet owners and their missing pets. “Even before the communication begins, I have a gut feeling of what will go well or downhill,” says Reshma. However, the profession of ‘animal telepathy’ is not the best solution to predict illnesses and delay treatment in an animal. Dr Himanshu Gautam, a Lucknow-based veterinary doctor says, “Merely visualising or seeing a photo cannot determine whether an animal is struggling with health issues or establish communication with them.” Dr Himanshu adds, “Humans are immensely attached to their pets which makes them look for a communicator. The only solution to pinpoint health issues in a pet is to observe their behaviour, symptoms, irregularities and do regular tests and consultations with a veterinarian doctor.”
Paws And Reflect
Animal communicators earn significant income from their profession, which involves transmitting messages from pets to their owners. Pet psychics claim to perceive and interpret messages from lost pets, who provide clues to their whereabouts and describe their surroundings to aid their owners in locating them. Similarly, when it comes to deceased pets or those nearing the end of their lives, animal communicators can convey their state of mind during death and their thoughts on euthanasia. Deceased animals often communicate their ‘final wishes’ to their owners, which can include requests for them to maintain a healthy lifestyle, plant a tree, or provide hints about their potential reincarnation.
Annukta Ganjoo, a Mumbai-based telepathic animal communicator who takes on 2-3 cases a day says, “Pet owners constantly want to talk to their pet. They want to know what is going on in their minds, and want to fulfill their wishes.” She explains how she understands and talks to pets, “I can have an animal’s voice and image flash and my strong intuition allows me to experience pain in the same body part an animal is experiencing. My job is to simply convey what the animal shows me, diagnosis of medical conditions and finding a lost animal is not the purpose of the communicator,” says Annukta. Anjali Kalchand, pet nutritionist & co-founder of A Petter Life offers her take on the veracity of animal communicators. “Communicating through another medium or person may remove emotional barriers and allow the conversation to be objective. An animal communicator cannot diagnose a medical condition but only communicate the feelings of an animal and its symptoms.” “Going to a veterinarian doctor should be the first point of call to treat an ailing pet,” she adds.
Pet Chatter
When considering consulting animal communicators and pet psychics, individuals should approach the decision with discernment, objectivity, and prior research. While some may find solace and solutions in the services offered by animal communicators, it's crucial to understand that animal communicators may not be 100% right and lack the nuanced understanding of a medical professional. Therefore, individuals should research more on the profession and their job description before expecting preconceived solutions. In cases where an
animal exhibits signs of illness or distress, the primary step should always be to consult a qualified veterinarian. Veterinarians possess the expertise and training necessary to diagnose and treat medical conditions in animals effectively. They can conduct thorough examinations, administer appropriate tests, and provide evidence-based treatment options. Approaching a veterinarian as the first step ensures that the animal receives proper medical attention and care, prioritising its health and well-being above all else.
