Apple has added a new code into the latest iOS 18.1 update that makes it harder for police and thieves to break into the iPhones.
According to a report by 404 Media, the US law enforcement officials warned that iPhone stored for examination were "mysteriously" rebooting themselves. The report stated that restarted iPhones enter a "Before First Unlock" or BFU state.
BFU is when the phone has not been unlocked once since being turned on and when it is in that state, it becomes harder to crack the device. Not only the iPhone, Android devices enter into BFU state.
The tech giant may have introduced a new security feature in iOS 18 that tells its devices to reboot if it's disconnected from a cellular network for some time, said the report.
Apple claims that they care about user privacy. Earlier this year, the tech giant reportedly refused to unlock the iPhone used by then Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a money-laundering case.
