Unlike other chargers that use electromagnetic induction, Energysquare has developed a new tech that depends on electric conduction. This also allows multiple devices to charge at once.

Energysquare, a French startup has developed a new technology that can add the wireless charging feature to almost any device. This includes devices such as Apple’s iPhone and iPad which do not come with built-in wireless charging capabilities. The company launched its Kickstarter campaign in May last year.

Energysquare is two-part system that consists of a charging pad and a sticker that is placed on the rear panel of a device. The sticker consists of two tiny metal electrodes alongside a micro-USB, USB Type-C or a Lightning connector that is plugged into device’s charging port. The device can then be placed on the charging pad in order to charge it wirelessly.

Unlike other chargers that use electromagnetic induction, Energysquare has developed a new technology that works on electric conduction. This also allows multiple devices to charge simultaneously.

The only drawback of this sticker is that it occupies the charging port of the device — if users wish to charge the normal way, or use an OTG accessory, they’ll have to unplug the sticker each time. The company has already addressed the issue and promised to resolve it with the second generation of the sticker. Energysquare’s wireless charging kit costs $89, which consists of a charging pad and five stickers for more devices.
