Apple Watch 2 doesn't track elevation
The square-face watch features a built-in GPS, which connects to satellite and even route map users varying speed.
On September 7 Apple unveiled its next-generation wearable, Apple Watch Series 2, at the company’s highly-anticipated keynote event in San Francisco.
Apple Watch Series 2 is powered by the S2 chip with a dual-core processor that is 50 per cent faster, a brighter display — at 1,000 nits, which is two times brighter, and is water resistance to 50 metres.
The square-face watch also features a built-in GPS, which connects to satellite and even route map users varying speed, which can be checked on the iPhone.
"With built-in GPS, Apple Watch Series 2 records precise distance, pace and speed for outdoor workouts such as walking, running or cycling, without needing to take an iPhone," says Apple website.
Even though, the GPS seems to measure workouts more accurately compared to the previous model, it still has a drawback—the watch doesn’t track elevation.
However, by using some third-party apps, like Altimeter + or the ViewRanger app, user will be able to track elevation, but that would be possible only when user’s iPhone is with them and connected.
The watch is available in gold, rose gold, silver or space grey aluminium, space black, starting at $369 (approximately Rs 25,000).
