LG announces two 4K monitors for latest Apple MacBook Pro

Apple announced the launch of its updated MacBook Pro laptops at an event in San Francisco on 27 October. The laptops, both 13-inch and 15-inch feature USB-C ports, a retina display, multi-touch ‘Touch Bar’ and a versatile strip display that replaced the function keys.

Adding to this was LG’s decision to announce a pair of 4K monitors that are designed especially to be integrated with the latest MacBook Pro laptops.

‘We are excited to be introducing two highly advanced displays capable of meeting the needs of even the most demanding Mac users,’ Brian Kwon, president of LG Home Entertainment Company was reported by Forbes as saying.

‘Not only do these UltraFine displays offer stunning picture quality, they will usher in a new age of connectivity, helping creative users achieve optimal efficiency in their homes, studios or offices,’ he added.

The new monitors namely LG UltraFine 5K and UltraFine 4K are 27 and 21.5-inches display respectively come with several other features useful for Mac users.

While the 27-inch LG UltraFine 5K display with 5120 x 2880 pixel resolution come with IPS display technology, the smaller 21.5-inch LG UltraFine 4K with 4096 x 2304 pixel resolution come with special MacOS integration for display control.

The UltraFine 5K’s color gamut covers approximately 99 per cent of the P3 color space and is targeted especially at professional photographers. This model is further equipped with 3 USB Type-C ports and a front-facing camera along with a microphone that can come to use while users make use of FaceTime. Furthermore, LG UltraFine 5K is equipped with LG’s Rich Bass feature whose controls can be handled through MacOS.

On the other hand, the LG UltraFine 4K covers up to 99 per cent of the P3 colour spectrum and features USB Type-C connectivity for video, data, power. These functions are adjustable as per the requirements.

While the 27-inch model is expected to arrive early in US by December at a starting price of $1299.95; the smaller 21.5-inch model will available starting in November at $699.95 on Apple’s official website.
