Hyderabad: In a good news to Pixel device enthusiasts, tech giant Google is set to use the ultrasonic-fingerprint scanner in the pixel 9 models, claimed a report.

As reported by android authority, the new pixel models are to don the 'Qualcomm 3D Sonic Gen 2' ultrasonic fingerprint scanner ditching the not so fast and unreliable optical scanners.
The new set of scanners are the same as the one's used in the Samsung's S24 line-up.
The pixel phone has shifted to an under-screen fingerprint scanner from pixel 6 and it uses an optical sensor until recently. Many of its users complained in the past of the slow response (Comparatively) and unreliability of the scanner. Some issues were addressed by Google through OS updates, while users still face some difficulties using the optical scanner.
The Pixel 9 series is expected to be launched in August with a major design upgrade. Following the Pixel 8a, the new pixel phone will ditch the boxy rectangular shape and opt for more rounded circular edges like the iPhones, some reliable leaks have suggested.
Apart from the design change, the new pixel device will see some major hardware updates. Reports also suggest that, Google is planning to revive the 'XL' models and might price the base model at $699.
