Hyderabad: In serious concern for data security, a hacker had claimed a massive data leak of Airtel India users and put it on sale for $ 50,000 on dark web. The hacker also claimed that he successfully sold the Ministry of External Affairs's Diplomatic passport holders data leak.
The hacker, identified as 'xenZen' had claimed that data of over 375 million users was breached. The data includes their phone numbers, email address, Aadhar card numbers and other private information. All the data is updated until June 2024, he added.
However, the telecom giant, Bharti Airtel brushed off the reports, saying 'there's been no data leak'. The telecom service provider asserted that the private information of all their users is safe and the claims are fake.
Meanwhile, netizens are flooding the micro-blogging site 'X' with the reports claiming the data breach. Founded by Sunil Bharti Mittal in 1995, Airtel is the second largest telecom service provider in the country after Jio.
