The search engine giant Google on November 4 pointed out that its Street View feature, integrated in Google Maps and Google Earth to provide panoramic view of street, is likely to be delayed until Google receives permission to implement the feature in India, primarily on the policy front.
“As of now we have not been able to get permissions. Discussions are still happening on that front. It's more of a decision on the policy side that we have not been able to get permissions,” said Sanket Gupta, Maps Lead, Google India.
Gupta explained technically the company need cars and cameras to deploy it. Google is also aiming to develop more country-relevant features inspired by India itself.
