Latest Windows 10 Mobile update makes it an enterprise focused mobile OS
Fast Ring members of Windows Insider program are getting updates that introduce two-factor authentication, applock updates for enterprises.
In what comes as fresh news in the world of Windows phones, Microsoft has released an update scheduled to add features to the platform. Yes, even after app developers continuously abandoning the platform, Microsoft is pushing updates to the platform. However, these are features designed exclusively for enterprises, meaning that Windows 10 Mobile is destined to become a part of corporate smartphone platforms.
Members of the Windows Insider Program testing updates as part of the special Fast Ring testers have received updates that are designed for enterprise usage. The first feature is the two-factor authentication method for unlocking the device, which will enhance the security of Windows phones. Enterprises can enforce a separate layer of security above the standard one to keep corporate data secure from the vulnerable world outside.
The second feature is an improved AppLocker that will help enterprises warn their users from opening apps on their phone that they aren’t supposed to. Another addition is the improved VPN with refinements to proxy for UWP VPN profile, MMS usage that can be enabled when VPN is connected, IKEv2 Sleep and Power tweaks, and reliability enhancements.
All of these additions mean that Microsoft is working on making Windows Mobile into something that was Blackberry a few years ago — a complete corporate software.
