Your iPhone's TouchID will unlock your car
Apple's concept of unlocking a car using fingerprint also sounds compelling and it is expected to roll out next year.
Apple has already managed to replace your wallet, camera and flashlight with its iPhone, but it soon plans second as your car keys too.
According to a report from Bloomberg, "Apple executives had imagined an electric car that could recognize its driver by fingerprint and autonomously navigate with the press of a button."
Since Apple has scaled back its automotive ambitions and does not intend on building its own car for now, it will be interesting to see an iPhone unlocking and starting cars.
Apple wouldn’t be the first to build a system that can unlock or start a car. There are already apps such as Viper SmartStart, and a BMW-specific app, that allow users to unlock to perform these tasks from their smartphone.
Hyundai’s BlueLink app allows users to unlock their car using a smartwatch. It also locates the car in a parking lot and also starts the engine. However, Apple’s concept of unlocking a car using fingerprint also sounds compelling and it is expected to roll out next year.
