$1 million hackathon to be held in Visakhapatnam
The $1 million hackathon will be conducted for two days from October 9.
Visakhapatnam: The winner of the hackathon to be conducted as part of Fintech Festival to be held in October in the port city would get $ 1 million. The $1 million hackathon will be conducted for two days from October 9. This was announced by Andhra Pradesh special chief secretary and IT adviser J.A. Chowdary during a panel discussion on ‘Fintech and Block Chain’ at Gitam University here on Sunday.
Hackathon is an event lasting for hours or days where a large number of people come together to find smart solutions for problems or innovate new services. Prior to that in order to promote the Fintech ecosystem in the state, a mini Fintech festival would take place on March 9. The three winners in the hackathon conducted during the festival would be given Rs 5 lakh each. The task in the hackathon would be how financial technologies could bring a solution in some specific fields.
Intellibusiness (NewYork) vice-president M. Anjaneyulu, Synchrony Financial vice-president (Analytics) Bhargavi Jayanti, Emerging Trends & Technologies vice-president S. Jayavardhan, Gitam FinTech Academy coordinator Lebon Jhonson and others participated in the panel discussion and explained the concept of block chain and its importance. The Arizona State University has agreed in principle to set up a fintech university on IT Hill-3 at Rushikonda in the city. According to sources, the talks are on advanced stage and the reputed Arizona University would be coming up soon to establish the Fintech University, giving a major boost to financial technologies.
