Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 Series on September 9 at “Its Glowtime” event at Cupertino Park in California.
The iPhone 16 base model has undergone some design changes as well as including new buttons and better battery life.
Lets compare the iPhone 16 standard model with the iPhone 15 standard model:
Display
The iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 standard models has the same display sizes which is 6.1-inch and the maximum brightness remains the same as before at 2,000 nits. But the iPhone 16 still runs at 60Hz.
Design
Apple brings back the vertical camera setup in the iPhone 16, which it had in iPhone X till iPhone 12. The reason for this change is Spatial Video.
Another big change is the Action Button, which replaces the mute switch. The Action Button was missing from the iPhone 15. You also get a dedicated camera button, helping you to quickly launch the camera.
Chipset and RAM
The iPhone 16 gets a new chipset, Apple A18 built on second-gen 3nm technology. There is a two-generation jump between the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16. The iPhone 15 has A16 Bionic chip.
The iPhone 16 comes with 8GB of RAM, a significant change from the iPhone 15 which features 6GB of RAM. The reason for the jump in RAM is Apple Intelligence. There is no change in the storage options between both the iPhones and iPhone 16 uses the same Snapdragon X70 modem used in iPhone 15.
Camera
There is nothing exciting in the cameras of the iPhone 16 compared to iPhone 15. Both the iPhones have the same 48MP main camera and as for the ultra-wide camera, it keeps the 12MP sensor but with slightly faster aperture (f/2.2 to f/2.4) for better low-light performance.
Battery
iPhone 16 will have a better battery than the iPhone 15. Apple says that iPhone 16 gets 22 hours of video playback, compared to 20 hours on the iPhone 15.
When it comes to charging speed, the company has increased the magsafe charging speed to 25W from 15W but the wired charging remains the same at 20W, which makes wireless charging faster than wired charging for the first time.
