When Apple omitted the 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone 7 back in 2016, several Apple fans, as well as geeks, were taken aback. The omission of the 3.5mm port meant that iPhone users had to invest in a new pair of headphones with the Lightning port. However, Apple had seemingly analysed that the omission of the port would lead to several issues in the initial days, which is why they have been bundling along a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter since the iPhone 7 and later. This may not be the case anymore with the 2018 iPhone models, if the leaks are to be believed.

According to Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis and his associates, Apple wouldn’t be shipping the 2018 iPhone models with a 3.5mm to Lightning adapter anymore. The report by MacRumors doesn’t suggest any strong reason for claim though. The only reason applicable here is that Apple might be considering pushing its iPhone consumers to wireless audio accessories. Apple itself sells AirPods that's compatible with all Apple products, including the MacBook.

However, don’t throw your 3.5mm headphones yet. The Barclays analysts say that they aren’t confirmed on the news yet and will require time until June to confirm it. However, the last time they made a prediction about the inclusion of the adapter with the 2017 models, they were proven right. Apple surely wants all of its consumers to adopt the newer technology, which while making it easier for the developers to improve the existing services, also allows for enhanced revenue generation for them as well as their accessories partners.
