Be careful! Fake Apple chargers aren't safe enough
99 per cent of fake Apple chargers have failed a basic security test.
Apple iPhone owners are being urged no to charge their mobile phones using a fake Apple charger as it could potentially risk their lives.
Investigation by Trading Standards shows 99 per cent of fake Apple chargers have failed a basic security test.
Among the total 400 counterfeit charges tested by the Trading Standards, only three were found to have enough insulation to protect from electrical shocks, reported BBC Technology.
They urged users not to buy such counterfeit electrical goods online from ‘unknown entity’.
Chartered Trading Standards Institute Chief Executive, Leon Livermore, in a statement to BBC said, “It might cost a few pounds more, but counterfeit and second-hand goods are an unknown entity that could cost you, your home or even your life, or the life of a loved-one.”
Earlier in October, Apple said to sue a third-party vendor for supplying fake power adapter masquerading as those sold by Apple itself.
