Samsung latest ad mocks the iPhone's existence over the years
Samsung explains why its Galaxy smartphones have been a step ahead of the iPhone in the last decade.
Samsung has never left an opportunity in taking a dig at Apple. With the iPhone X rolling out of the shelves, the South Korean giant has released a new commercial to let the world know why the Galaxy series has been a step ahead of the flagship iPhone model for the past 10 years, wooing even hardcore Apple fanboys.
The commercial starts right from June 2007, when Apple rolled out the first iPhone. Up until the iPhone 3GS showed up, the film shows various shortcomings that iPhone users had to face, one of the prime ones being the shortage of storage space. Samsung shows its flagship Galaxy smartphones addressing those issues — the Galaxy Note 3 came with a stylus for taking notes whereas the iPhone 5S with its 4-inch display relied on the software keyboard. The Galaxy S6 with its waterproofing survives a dip whereas the iPhone 6 has to rest on a bowl of rice to drain out moisture. The commercial ends up showing the Apple fan finally giving up on the iPhone and opting for a flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
While most of what Samsung shows can be agreed with, there are still a lot of things on their part that they missed, right from their always bloated and buggy software on Samsung smartphones to the Note 7’s 'explosive' recall. Of course, Samsung won’t show their product in the negative limelight in their commercial (something Apple can take off with, for fun).
Samsung’s flagship offerings in the recent years have been a tough rival to iPhone, with unique features that the rest of the smartphone world caught up with, including Apple. It is still early to comment on whether the latest iPhone X is better than the Galaxy Note 8 or vice versa (we have our review of the iPhone X coming up soon). Apple’s iPhone 8 has received a subdued response from consumers (a point shown in the last moments of the film when the protagonist looks at a spartan queue outside the Apple store).
However, the iPhone X has spiced up things in the world of smartphones, with usual long queues outside Apple stores, showing that Apple fans are still interested in the latest iPhone, even after Samsung mocking the iPhone’s existence. Apple, do you have something in answer?
