ASUS could unveil Zenfone 4 by July end
ASUS' flagship smartphone could be targeting the OnePlus 5 with similar specifications
The world of smartphones is experiencing a slew of new launches every fortnight since the unveiling of the Galaxy S8. Motorola unveiled their Z2 Play last month and OnePlus is about to unveil the OnePlus 5 within the next few weeks. Now, ASUS is readying its arsenal of smartphones for the masses with the upcoming Zenfone 4.
ASUS’ CEO Jerry Shen has confirmed to Digitimes in an interview that the first device of the Zenfone 4 family will be unveiled at the end of July. The device wasn’t unveiled at the Computex 2017 citing design overhaul and efficiency upgrades.
Last year’s Zenfone 3 couldn’t impress the critics as wells as the consumers with all that it had to offer, especially compared to last year’s OnePlus 3. Therefore, the delay in releasing the device could have something to do with a design that would have led the Zenfone 4 to the same fate as its predecessor.
To speculate, the Zenfone 4 could be featuring a 5.5-inch display with a Snapdragon 835 processor with at least 6GB of RAM, if it has to be relevant in the consumer’s mind. It could also feature a water resistant body and may have a dual rear camera as well.
Shen also mentioned that Zenfone 5 could be unveiled early in next year’s MWC, i.e. around February-end of 2018. The Zenfone 5 could carry forward the design of the Zenfone 4 and could come with the alleged Snapdragon 845 chipset.
