Xiaomi's next Mi Mix could feature 3D facial recognition
The feature could be similar to the one on the Samsung Galaxy S8, could be a 3D system like the one on the rumoured iPhone 8.
Last year’s Xiaomi Mi Mix was a groundbreaking smartphone with extremely-thin bezels beside the display. Therefore, the next Mi Mix should also be a trendsetter with new features, one of which is a facial recognition feature. Now, the facial recognition feature is slowly becoming standard in flagship smartphones, leaking even to affordable mid-range smartphones. However, this could be the first for a Xiaomi smartphone.
A leaked photo on Weibo shows an MIUI 9 screenshot with a facial recognition icon at the bottom. The user who posted the photo claims that the screenshot has been sourced from the under-development Mi Mix 2. The speculation even claims a 3D facial recognition, a system that is supposed to be available on the upcoming iPhone 8. However, the facial icon on this screenshot is pretty similar to the one on the Samsung Galaxy S8.
Nothing else was revealed about the Mi Mix 2, which is still stuck in the world of smartphone rumours. The smartphone is expected to come with an even bigger display with thinner bezels than the previous one. Underneath, it could be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 6GB RAM and possibly a dual camera sensor.
