Xiaomi India sells 1 million smartphones within 18 days
Xiaomi claims to have sold over 1 million smartphones in India within 18 days of its launch.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun wrote an open letter today that thanks Xiaomi employees and fans in India for the immense popularity and success the company has generated in such a short period of time.
According to the letter that was posted on Xiaomi’s official Facebook page, the Chinese company has reportedly made a sale of 1 million Xiaomi smartphone units in just 18 days in the country.
Apart from praising Hugo Barra (Vice President of Xiaomi) and Manu Kumar Jain’s (Xiaomi India’s Head) effort at furthering the Mi brand in India, the letter also outlines the important milestones that Xiaomi has achieved in a span of one year in India.
These milestones include Xiaomi’s participation in the country’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, the company’s achievement in becoming the top smartphone brand in India and the company’s success at selling 2.3 million Redmi Note 3 devices in just six months.
‘India is an extremely important market in Xiaomi's globalisation strategy. It has become our largest market outside of mainland China. I am confident that with the sustained efforts of our entire Xiaomi family, we will be able to capture the largest market share in India within 3-5 years,’ Jun said in his letter.
The company’s Diwali sale is currently on wherein they are offering customers deals and discounts across their range of smartphones and accessories.
