After 3310, Nokia rumoured to revive QWERTY feature phones
HMD Global's QWERTY phone is expected to use Nokia's Series 30+ feature OS.
The world remembers Nokia as the manufacturer of the iconic ‘brick’ 3310 feature phone. While Nokia led the feature phone market with other similar feature phones, the Finnish mobile giant of yesteryear was also known for giving the world some of the whackiest forms of mobile phones as well as extremely civilised ‘E-series’ phones. After HMD Global, brought back the brand from the grave last year, the company is expected to revive some of the other iconic phones from the past. Presently, the QWERTY feature phone is expected to make a return under the new Nokia.
FCC has recently certified two phones by the name of TA-1047 and TA-1060, classifying them as feature phones instead of using a smarter version of Android OS. The document also leaks the fact that they will be depending on a QWERTY keyboard for input. The phone will also support 4G connectivity and will have dimensions of 133 x 68mm. Nothing else can be derived from the report as of now.
If the phone comes into existence, which it might, considering the certification by FCC, then Nokia might place this model as a premium alternative to the Nokia 3310. We expect Nokia to follow a design language similar to the Nokia Asha 210 or other similar handsets, which had colourful and funky attires. However, what will matter most is whether Nokia provides support for WhatsApp on this baby as the 3310 suffered from the lack of it.
