Xiaomi launches Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus
Both smartphones come with ultrasonic fingerprint sensor technology for added security.
Xiaomi has unveiled its must anticipated smartphone, the Mi 5s in China. The company also launched the Mi 5s Plus that comes with a dual camera setup. Both smartphones will be available in four colours, namely Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, and White.
Both the smartphone are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. It runs on MIUI 8 wrapped under Android OS. The 3GB RAM / 64GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1,999 (approx Rs 20,000), while the 4GB RAM / 128GB storage will be selling at a price of CNY 2,299 (approx Rs 23,000).
The Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant on the other hand has been priced at CNY 2,299 (approx Rs. 22,900), while the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant will be available at a price of CNY 2,599 (approx Rs. 26,000).
Both smartphones feature a unique ultrasonic fingerprint sensor integrated in the home button placed underneath a glass. The company claims it provides the same accuracy other fingerprint sensors.
The Xiaomi Mi 5s sports a 5.15-inch full-HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution and NTSC 95 percent colour gamut. The Mi 5s Plus on the other hand packs in a 5.7-inch display with the same resolution, but a brightness of 550 nits.
The Mi 5s Plus boasts dual rear camera setup, with two 13MP sensors - one for colour, and the other for monochrome.
The Mi 5s on the other hand comes with a single 12MP rear camera, with Sony IMX 378 sensor and an f/2.0 aperture. Both devices feature a 4MP front-facing camera with 2-micron pixels and an f/2.0 aperture. The major difference between the smartphones is the clock speed of the processor. While the Mi 5s has a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 821 SoC, the Mi 5s Plus comes with a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 SoC.
On the connectivity front, the smartphone features 4G LTE connectivity with 3x carrier aggregation support, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, and GPS/ A-GPS
