Who is Indian-Origin Kevan Parekh, Apple's New CFO?

Apple recently appointed Indian-origin engineer Kevan Parekh as it new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Parekh will take over as the CFO from January 1, 2025 and will join the executive team. He is currently Apple’s Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis. Current CFO Luca Maestri will continue to lead the Corporate Services teams.

Kevan played a key role in Apple’s financial strategy and operations and he has been with the company for 11 years.

Parekh holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, having a strong technical and business education.

Having joined the company 11 years, he is believed to report to Tim Cook. He currently oversees Financial Planning and Analysis, G&A and Benefits Finance, Investor Relations, and Market Research. Before this role, Parekh led Worldwide Sales, Retail, and Marketing Finance.

Kevan Parekh held various senior leadership roles at Thomson Reuters and General Motors, before joining Apple.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said Parekh understands the company inside and out.

“For more than a decade, Kevan has been an indispensable member of Apple’s finance leadership team, and he understands the company inside and out. His sharp intellect, wise judgment, and financial brilliance make him the perfect choice to be Apple’s next CFO,” Tim Cook said.

Maestri said he has enormous confidence in Kevan and also said that Parekh has deep love for Apple and its mission.

“I’m looking forward to the next stage of my time at Apple, and I have enormous confidence in Kevan as he prepares to take the reins as CFO. He is truly exceptional, has a deep love for Apple and its mission, and he embodies the leadership, judgment, and values that are so important to this role,” he said.
