We were on a break!... no more
The two-hour special is scheduled to be aired on February 21 on NBC.
It’s finally happened! F.R.I.E.N.D.S, the popular sitcom which defined modern television sitcoms for an entire generation of fans, ended in 2004 — but has been teasing us for a while with talk of a reunion. Now. 12 years after the show’s finale, news has broke that actors Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow — more affectionately known as Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Joey, Ross and Phoebe — will be back on screen together soon, but only as part of a tribute show for sitcom director James Burrows, who also shot 15 episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
The two-hour special is scheduled to be aired on February 21 on NBC. However, the network’s chairman Robert Greenblatt has also stated that getting the six actors in one room together will be hard, because of their schedules. “I’m not sure we can logistically pull it off,” he said, according to The Guardian.
The show still enjoys a massive fan base across the world, with its reruns still part of television specials and online portals like Netflix introducing the comedy to a new breed of viewers. One of the creators of the show, Marta Kauffman, had told E! News in May 2015, that a reunion episode would “never happen” and fans needed it “let it go”. It’s a good thing we didn’t believe her then!
