A Norwegian citizen of Malayali origin, Renson Jose, is under investigation following the deadly pager explosion in Lebanon on Tuesday that killed nearly 20 people and injured thousands, including Hezbollah members. Jose, originally from Mananthavady in Kerala's Wayanad district, is reported to be the owner of Norta Global Limited, a Bulgarian shell company allegedly involved in the shipment of explosive-laden pagers.

The explosion, which triggered international scrutiny, is believed to have created an intelligence map for Israel. The origins of the rigged pagers, manufactured by Hungarian company BSC Consulting, using the trademark of Taiwanese company Gold Apollo, are now under investigation by global intelligence agencies. According to Hungarian media outlet Telex, BSC Consulting is an Israeli shell company and that Norta Global Limited, founded by Jose, facilitated the acquisition of the pagers.

Renson Jose, 37, migrated to Norway after completing his MBA in Bangalore. He is reportedly unaware of any conspiracy, according to sources cited by the Daily Mail, and denies knowledge of any intermediary links with Israeli intelligence. Bulgarian authorities have initiated an investigation into Norta Global, but the Bulgarian security agency SANS has stated that no such shipment passed through their country, clearing the company of direct involvement.

Jose’s father, a tailor in Mananthavady, was questioned by Kerala police, who are now investigating his son’s background.

The investigation continues, as authorities attempt to untangle the complex web of companies and individuals involved in the Lebanon pager explosion.
