Videos of long queue on Mount Everest have gone viral on social media platforms. The climb for the highest peak is increasing despite deaths and incidents.
Rajan Dwivedi posted a video, dated May 20, of the climb and wrote, "Mt. Everest is not a joke and in fact, quite a serious climb."
"I believe so far ~7,000 have summited since 1st ascent in May 1953. Many end up with frost bites, snow blindness and various type of injuries that are not counted in any database," he wrote.
Even though it may look beautiful on social media but one user, The Northerner calls the Everest as the most controversial place on earth. "Everest, the highest, the dirtiest and the most controversial place on Earth. Humans bypassing corpses, leaving people dying, ignoring help cries, making it dirtiest place with pollution & human wastes; all for the glory of summit. When will it stop?!" wrote the Northerner on X.
On Wednesday, Nepali tourism officials said that an Indian climber, who was rescued from the heights of Mt Everest, passed away during the treatment. This season eight people have died.
The climb is not an easy thing, as the mountaineers are exposed to low air pressure, UV radiation and extreme cold conditions. Retaining a dead body is dangerous and expensive.
