Six young men form a circle at the entrance of the Kairali Theatre. It is time for the second show of the day as part of the IFFK.
Three of them are in lungis sporting long hair. “You get a lungi for Rs100 while a pair of jeans costs Rs 800," says one of them.
They are all film students from Kochi. “Tomorrow we will think of another new look."
Looks, as always, play an important part in the eight-day long fest. It is a time when people dare to let their hair down and wear the clothes they fancy. Men in long curls and pony tails, clean shaven women, all walk into the venues, not attracting any attention. Nothing is a norm anymore.
