Mumbai:Legendary actress Shabana Azmi said she appreciates the talent of new filmmakers for their  ‘unusual’ approach to subjects in their films and their portrayal of women.

After a meet at an event  where several personalities from the film fraternity shared their views on the topic of discussion, ‘ The Film That Changed My Life’, Shabana said "One film that changed my life was Mahesh Bhatt's Arth. After we completed the film, we showed it to the distributors and the producers."

"They liked the film but they asked us to change the end. But me and Mahesh insisted that we will not change the end and then the way the film did both commercially and artistically was great."

In her movie ‘Arth’ her character leaves her unfaithful husband to start a new life, which was not a usual plot for filmmakers of the 80’s.

"I feel there is a change and especially the new filmmakers are making some unusual films especially with the way men regard women is great."
