Next Cyanogen OS smartphone to be named as 'Yuphoria'

The company had announced #YUNameIt campaign on its social media platforms

Yu Televentures, a Micromax-backed company, has finally decided to name the next Cyanogen OS smartphone as ‘Yuphoria’. As mentioned on the Yu’s official blog, the name Yuphoria (earlier known as Project Caesar), has been chosen through India’s first ever crowd-sourced smartphone-naming campaign #YUNameIt.

The company had announced #YUNameIt on its social media platforms on March 31, 2015. Participants submitted their entries till April 3, 2015. Yuphoria, Yuknight, Yunicorn, Yunity, Youth were the five names suggested by the Yu fans.

The Yuphoria smartphone is expected to feature a 5-inch display, offer 2GB of RAM,16GB of internal storage capacity and 13MP or 16MP camera. There hasn’t been any official information regarding the specifications or the launch date of the upcoming Yuphoria handset as yet. However, according to the latest media reports, this smartphone will be unveiled by April-end and likely be priced at Rs 10,000.

Micromax had launched its first Cyanogen Yu smartphone on December 18, 2014, which was exclusively available on Amazon. This 5.5-inch handset will again go on sale on April 16, 2015 at 2pm.
