16 Impersonators Caught Taking B. Tech Exam
ANANTAPUR: Authorities of JNTU, Anantapur, caught 16 persons on Thursday for impersonating students of C.V. Raman Engineering College in Tadipatri and writing B.Tech first semester exam on their behalf.
Sources said authorities had fixed Tadipatri Engineering College (TEC) as the examination centre for students of CVR college to write their first semester exams. The semester exams commenced on July 25.
On Thursday, while the drawing examination had been going on at TEC, an invigilator found that hall tickets of some students at the centre had been tampered with. The invigilator passed on the information to TEC college principal E.V. Subba Reddy, who alerted JNTUA authorities.
A team of JNTUA arrived and checked the hall tickets and ID cards of all the students taking the exam. They found that impersonators had been writing the exam on behalf of 16 CVR Engineering College students. JNTUA authorities recorded the statements of students appearing with fake ID cards and hall tickets.
JNTUA controller of examinations Dr Kesava Reddy told DC that action will be initiated against the 16 students after following due procedures laid down by the university.
