JNTUK to seek NAAC recognition
KAKINADA: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada is making attempts to secure recognition from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
A six-member team from NAAC is visiting the university to inspect the facilities there. The university is paying attention to improving its infrastructure facilities. The university achieved the NAAC B+ grade two years ago. From then on, it wants to secure a good rank in NAAC.
The university is improving infrastructure facilities like roads and drains. Vice-chancellor Prasada Raju appointed the permanent faculty as heads of the department to the IST and Management studies wings.
The food technology wing got lab testing licences from the central Government.
Though the government has not appointed regular faculty for the past 10 years, the university has compensated for this with the contract facility.
The industry-oriented syllabus has been introduced for B.Tech courses in view of the speedy growth of the private sector in the country and worldwide. Some of software companies have come forward to set up training centres in the university to make industry-oriented students.
“The university overcame many setbacks and is now creating infrastructure facilities, placement training for students and innovative projects. It also encourages start-up companies. Labs are being modernized. Directors and every professor should take classes compulsorily.
“The university is also organising several seminars and making use of advanced technology,’’ said a director.
The library on the campus is available to students for 12 hours. However, the university feels that good grades from NAAC would help it improve its facilities.
