VIJAYAWADA: The state government is all set to conduct the AP Polycet-2023 examinations across the state on Wednesday (May 10). There are altogether 499 exam centres. A total of 1,59,144 students will appear for the exams, out of which 96,429 are boys and 62,715 girls. Commissioner of Technical Education Chadalavada Nagarani said that the number of girl students appearing for this exam is around 40% which is good as girls are showing interest in polytechnic education.

She further said that 26,698 SC students and 9,113 ST students are appearing for the exams. She asked the students to report at the examination centres by 10 am on the day of the examination.
The exam will be held from 11 am to 1 pm.

Nagarani explained that compared to last year, this year the number of students appearing has increased by around 21,000 due to awareness created and initiatives taken by the government. She said that the campaign by the government and private polytechnics explaining the benefits of polytechnic education, which is skill-oriented, practical and job-oriented, motivated many students who had appeared for SSC exams this year. She pointed out that a sharp increase in placements, over 3,500 in government polytechnics, and conducting job achievers day in most of the government polytechnics encouraged the students.

The commissioner mentioned that for the first time fee concession has been given to SC/ST students appearing for Polycet-2023 examinations. The fee is Rs 100 for SC/ST students and Rs 400 for OC/BC students. She further mentioned that Polycet-2023 free coaching was also conducted at 84 government polytechnics from April 16 to May 8 in which 8,987 students attended and study material prepared by the experts of government polytechnics and published by SBTET AP was distributed to 9,000 students free of cost to those who attended the free coaching at various polytechnics and coaching centres.

Nagarani said that the coaching material was provided both in English and Telugu versions separately and the government and private polytechnics visited almost all the government and private schools offering SSC courses throughout the state giving details and advantages of polytechnic education through pamphlets, posters, presentations, videos, print and electronic media.
