KAKINADA: The United Private Educational Institutions Federation (UPEIF) stated that the government has no authority to fix tuition fees or sell books to students of private schools. It also suggested that parents must admit their kids only to government-recognised schools.

Speaking to media persons on Saturday, the Federation’s chief legal adviser Mutukumilli Srivijay said that as schools are reopening, parents must be aware of the details of the schools where they wish to admit their children so as to avoid any trouble in the future.

He also emphasised the need for transfer certificates, stating they are important for a student’s academic career, and that TCs only issued by recognised schools are valid. Therefore, when parents wish to change their child’s school, they must take the transfer certificate from the school after clearing all dues, failing which the students may face trouble in the future.

Srivijay further said that the decision of fixing schools would only be taken by the school’s correspondent or the management.

“The government has the authority to introduce or modify the syllabus, but it cannot sell books or fix the fees of private schools,” Srivijay said.

He also alleged that the education department was exerting pressure on private schools to buy the books and the same must be stopped. The Federation’s leaders Y. Suresh, T. Suresh, Jagannadham Vijaya Kumar, M. Hidayatullah, Md Shabbir, S.Prakash, M.Sujnan and others were present.
