Government notifies second phase of RTE admissions
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh government has notified the second phase of admissions under Section 12(1)(c) of the Right to Education Act in Class I of various schools of the state. Those wanting admissions under this section may apply through the online portal https://cse.ap.gov.in till May 15.
They may also submit their applications through nearby Sachivalayams, Mee-Seva and internet centres, MEO offices and nearby private schools.
According to the notification issued by the Commissioner of School Education, the section mandates that all private unaided schools, including IB / ICSE / CBSE / state syllabus schools, allot 25 per cent of their seats in Class I during the year 2023–2024 to socially and economically disadvantaged children aged between 5–6 years.
Officials said the first phase of admissions this year had been carried out from March 22 to April 10. Around 12,000 students took admission into the private schools of their choice through an online lottery. The second phase of admissions started on May 6 and will end on May 15.
Indus Action, a public policy NGO, is extending support to the Government of Andhra Pradesh in terms of policy, governance, technology, and community engagement in this regard.
Tarun Cherukuri, co-Founder and CEO of Indus Action said parents who could not for any reason apply for admissions in the first phase can submit their applications now.
