Focus is on quality education in govt. schools: Harish Rao

HYDERABAD: Finance minister T. Harish Rao said that the government had been upgrading government schools which provide free education. Funds had been earmarked for this purpose, he said.
He was participating in the 75th State Teachers Union celebrations in Vanasthalipuram, along with education minister Sabita Indra Reddy here on Saturday.
He said that from 298 residential schools in 2014, the government had established 1,201 residential schools in the last eight years. “The focus is on providing education that is on par with corporate schools," he said. The government spent Rs 7,289 crore to renovate dilapidated buildings and modernise the schools.
Sabita Indra Reddy said that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao took measures to increase MBBS seats for Telangana students, from 850 in 2014 to 2,950 seats now.
