AP to form steering committee and working groups for IB syllabus implementation
Vijayawada: The AP government has issued GO: 81 on Monday for the joint certification of the 10th and 12th AP Board with IB (International Baccalaureate) to the students studying in the AP Board schools enabling the students in government schools of Andhra Pradesh to achieve high-end global jobs by transforming the 10th and 12th boards to make them equivalent to IB board for certification.
The order issued for formation of steering committee for guidance and report submission to the government on the areas of reform and transformation and defining roadmap for the assessment.
Praveen Prakash, principal secretary to the government school education department, in the order stated that the government of Andhra Pradesh’s motto is to enable and prepare the students studying in Andhra Pradesh’s government schools to make them global citizens with high-end global jobs in future. To make this vision into reality, it is focusing on transforming education in government schools to make students learn the skills to enable and prepare them for the future.
Praveen Prakash said the government of Andhra Pradesh, after multiple rounds of deliberation and discussions with various international organisations and boards including country heads of the boards, school education department, is entering into MoU (LoI) with IB (International Baccalaureate). He stated that now to work towards the detailed contours of the MoC (Detailed Agreement) with IB (International Baccalaureate), a steering committee and two working groups are being formed.
For steering committee group, principal secretary, school education is chairman, commissioner of school education, secretary, board of Intermediate education, commissioner of school infrastructure, commissioner of Intermediate education, representative of principal finance secretary, representative of law secretary, state project director, Samagra Siksha, director, mid day meal, MD, APWEIDC, director, government textbook press, director, open schools society, director of government examinations are members and director, SCERT is convener.
For Working Group 1, commissioner of school education is chairman, director of government examinations, director open school, director SIEMAT, director, SCE, director, government textbook press are members and other members and convener to be nominated by the CSE.
For Working Group 2, secretary, board of Intermediate education is chairman, commissioner of Intermediate education, director AP open school and director, SCERT are members. Other members and convener are to be nominated by secretary, board of Intermediate education.
