Hyderabad: Ahead of Class X board examinations from April 3 to 13, education minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy advised students to not give in to worry and pressure and approach their exams with preparedness. She said every teacher and parent must clear any doubt students have regarding their papers, and boost their morale.

Through a video conference held from the office of the director of school education on Wednesday, the minister discussed various guidelines with the district collectors regarding the organising of Class X examinations. Reddy directed officials concerned to make adequate arrangements for transparent and smooth conduct of the exams for which lakhs of students will appear.

She said that 2,652 examination centres have been set up for 4,94,620 students appearing for the examinations across the state. With summers likely to intensify, the minister requested collectors take special precautions and ensure necessary facilities including drinking water and ORS available to the students at all centres. To ensure transparency, she advised that CCTV cameras be installed at the examination centres and steps be taken to monitor them from time to time. She ordered officials to ensure that the electricity supply is uninterrupted and said that a special control room is being set up for smooth running and coordination among various departments.

The minister said that the hall tickets have already been sent to the respective schools and the students themselves have been given the opportunity to download them. She said that from this academic year, the examination papers have been reduced from 11 to 6, and on the day of the science examination, question and answer sheets for physics and biology will be provided separately. She added that the examination centres have been set up near the schools the students attend to avoid any inconveniences.

District-wise special observers are being appointed to check for any malpractice. The minister also said that the students appearing for the examinations can travel free of cost in RTC buses by furnishing their hall tickets. She said that apart from allocating special classrooms for the students, a special menu will be implemented too. Secretary of education department Vakati Karuna, director of the school education department Devasena and others participated in this program.
