Six-paper pattern to continue for SSC classes 9, 10

Hyderabad: The state government on Wednesday gave its assent for the class 9 final examinations and class 10 SSC board examination assessments to be done on basis of six papers, instead of 11.

The directors of school education and government examinations received the
communication.

As per the revised norms, summative assessments 1 and 2 for class 9 and
summative assessment 1 and SSC public examinations for class 10 will be held
with equal weightage for the six papers, in a 20:80 ratio for formative
assessments and summative assessments/board examinations.

Explaining the nuances, officials said that the science examination will
comprise two question papers, one each for physical sciences (physics,
chemistry) and biological sciences (biology), with 40 marks for each part
and separate answer scripts.

In general, the exam will last for three hours, but 20 additional minutes
will be allotted for the science examination for collecting answer scripts
for the first part and issuing question papers for the second part.

Additional 20 minutes will also be allotted for composite course exams, with
two hours for Telugu/Urdu, one hour for Sanskrit/Arabic/Hindi and 20 minutes
for collecting answer scripts and issuing question papers in the intervening
period between the first and second parts.

Under Oriental Secondary School Certificate (OSSC) scheme, there are two
papers for oriental languages i.e. Sanskrit (Paper-I- 23 and Paper-II-24)
and Arabic (Paper-I-25 and Paper-II-26) for 200 marks each. The examination
will be conducted in two papers (Paper-I and Paper-II) with 100 marks per
paper.

Officials said that a candidate must secure 56 marks out of 160 to pass.
Candidates should also appear for Part-I languages as per the SSC Public
Examinations scheme and also for any two of three non-language subjects,
with a pass mandatory in at least one non-language subject.

There shall be no change to the examination under the Vocational Education
Scheme.

April 3: First language paper (Group – A) from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm; First
language paper–I and first language paper–II (composite course) from 9.30 am
to 12.50 pm

April 4: Second language from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm

April 6: Third language (English) from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm

April 8: Mathematics from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm

April 10: Science (physical science and biological science) from 9.30 am to

April 11: Social studies from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm

April 12: OSSC main language paper-I (Sanskrit and Arabic) from 9.30 am to

How the development came about:

In the 2019-2020 academic year, an 11-paper pattern was announced, but
students were declared passed due to the Covid-19 pandemic

In the 2020-2021 academic year, a six-paper pattern was announced, but final
exams were not held due to Covid and the students were passed according to
their internal marks

In the 2021-2022 academic year, a six-paper pattern was released and exams
were also conducted. The same paper pattern is also followed in the current
academic year
