HYDERABAD: Students of divinity, theology and religious studies of Andhra Christian Theological College in Hyderabad were a vision in black robes and confident expression on Thursday, as they graduated from their courses.

Around 300 students received their certificates, including 10 who received their doctorates, at the 59th Graduation Day ceremony.

In attendance were heads of Baptist and Lutheran churches of South India and Methodist churches from across India, as there is a long history of graduates who have been undertaking leadership and religious roles, with some even working as ministers and missionaries.

Rev. Anitha, an assistant professor, said, “It was the most memorable event in the lives of many young training pastors to begin their futuristic ministry through this ceremony. The graduating students are from different degrees like a doctor of divinity, bachelor of divinity, bachelor of theology, master of divinity, master of ministry, doctor of ministry, and Bible study certificate, under Senate of Serampore University and ACTC.”

After receiving a doctorate of ministry, Rev. Dr A. Steveen said, “It’s been 24 years since I have completed my bachelor's in theology from Leonard Theological College, ACTC, which recognised my services and decided to grant me an honourary doctorate.”
