Vi Leadership Team visits beneficiary school in Hyderabad to underline the commitments made by Vi Foundation

The Senior Leadership of leading Indian telco Vi visited the Model Aaliya Government High School in Hyderabad, one of the beneficiaries of the e-Vidya model school development programme by Vi Foundation, the CSR arm of the company.

Led by CEO Akshaya Moondra, Vi’s delegation included COO Abhijit Kishore, Chief Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Officer Ambika Khurana and CTO Jagbir Singh. The leadership team reviewed the upgrades made to the school’s facilities that have been funded by VOIS and implemented by the Vi Foundation.
The Government Model High School Aaliya, located at Khan Lateef Estate, Fateh Maiden, was established in 1872. Rebuilt in 2015, it currently has a strength of 280 students from the sixth to the tenth standard.
On 14th November, on the occasion of Children’s Day, a fully refurbished Science lab with the latest equipment and instruments was inaugurated and handed over to the School administration. Under Vi Foundation’s e-Vidya programme, key initiatives include upgrades to the school infrastructure including ICT lab, library, science lab, sports facilities, sanitation facilities, Building As Learning Aid (BALA) painted spaces.
Vi Foundation also supports the school with capacity-building programmes for teachers, scholarships for both teachers and students, visits to science museums, as well as career guidance, and awareness sessions on climate change and social inclusion in line with the National Education Policy 2020.
Over the course of the visit to the school, the Vi leadership team emphasized Vi Foundation’s focus on developing communities through leveraging technology and purposeful innovation. The team met with the school administration and engaged with teachers and students to understand the impact of the e-Vidya programme on their learning environment and knowledge development. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks from the school’s principal Dr. G Vishwanadham Gupta.
The ‘e-Vidya for Brighter Futures’ Programme combines e-learning tools, activity-based learning, and capacity-building to create an inclusive and engaging educational ecosystem. This programme is aimed at significantly improving learning outcomes by enriching the educational experience for students from underserved backgrounds.
e-Vidya Programme is built around two pillars — the Model School Programme and the Community Engagement Programme. The Model School initiative has benefitted 68,000 students from 240 schools nationally. The Community Engagement initiative currently supports 13 urban community centers, collectively benefitting over 1,00,000 individuals. The programme, currently operational in Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi, is part of the Vi Foundation’s broader drive to harness the power of technology and purpose-driven innovation to uplift communities, enhance digital literacy and ensure inclusivity for all.
