Mumbai: Sanjay Dutt visited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the Nabanna state secretariat in Kolkata and thanked her for all the support she had lent when he was going through a difficult phase.
“I came here to thank her. When I was in jail it was Mamata didi and Shatrughan Sinha who stood by me. She was also good friends with my father,” Dutt told media persons after the interaction.
Banerjee had offered Dutt support and had said that he has “already suffered a lot for the blunder”, when his conviction in the 1993 bomb blasts was upheld by the Supreme Court in March 2013 and he was asked to serve the remainder of his five-year jail sentence.
Dutt also said that the last time he had visited the city was when he was shooting for the film ‘Parineeta’ opposite Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan and was impressed with the changes in the city in the meanwhile. Banerjee also invited him for the Kolkata International Film Festival to be held in November this year and he has promised to attend.
