Anushka not replacing Deepika in Aanand Rai's next with SRK and Katrina
Owing to date issues, Deepika Padukone had to back out of her film with SRK and Katrina.
Mumbai: Just days before the commencement of director Aanand L. Rai’s next untitled project starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, who had a crucial role in the movie, opted out of it owing to date issues.
DP had to take this step after her other project, a period drama with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali titled ‘Padmavati’, got delayed due to controversies around it and clashed with her dates for Rai’s flick. Once Deepika backed out of the project, rumour mills were abuzz with news of Anushka Sharma being approached by Rai for the part. Anushka and SRK have worked together in Imtiaz Ali’s to-release untitled film and the Badshaah of Bollywood was reportedly keen on having her on board.
“Aanand and SRK met a few nights ago and discussed the possibilities. After Deepika said no to the film, they have offered it to Anushka,” a source informed a popular daily.
Another website, however, reported that Anushka’s team has clearly denied Rai approaching the actress for this part. “Anushka has not been approached for the film yet,” the ‘Phillauri’ actress’s official spokesman said.
Everyone wanted to watch Deepika and Katrina share screen space because of their history with one Mr. Kapoor and DP opting out of the film has left many upset. Also, National Award winner Sonam Kapoor’s name is reportedly being considered.
This hunt for DP’s replacement is going to be a tough one for Rai. Good Luck!
