Director Ken Ghosh was said to be keen on the sequel, but was not getting the story right, and the movie was eventually put on the back burner.

Quite the hit, especially with the youth, the 2003 release, Ishq Vishk marked the debut of Shahid Kapoor and Shenaz Treasurywala. It also starred Amrita Rao in the lead and gave Shahid his first exposure to stardom, turning him into the chocolate boy for the generation.

Almost 11 years after the movie release, in 2014 it was learned that the producers, along with director Ken Ghosh were planning to make a sequel for the hit and had also approached Shahid, with Priyanka Chopra too in mind for the lead role. Ken was said to be keen on the sequel, but was not getting the story right, and the movie was eventually put on the back burner.

However, things seem to be on track again for the sequel. Says a close source, “The makers have finally started working on the sequel and it will go on floors from January in Shimla. Ken, who was earlier supposed to direct the movie isn’t on board this time. Ami Roy, cinematographer of Ishq Vishk will be marking his directorial debut with it. Actor Girish Kumar’s cousin, Raveena, will be making her debut as the female lead. The male lead hasn’t been signed yet.”
