Why was Nayanthara detained at Kuala Lumpur International Airport?
The reason was a trivial issue with her passport stamping.
Even a small issue involving Nayanthara triggers off a huge controversy! This time around, tinsel town was abuzz with reports that the actress, who had gone to shoot for Iru Mugan with Chiyaan Vikram, was detained at Kuala Lumpur International Airport for an alleged drug offence, on her way back to India. She is said to be playing a secret agent in the film. The rumour mills on social media were working overtime, saying that Nayanthara was held back as she was reportedly carrying ‘ice drugs.’ A few others wrote that she was detained at the Malaysian airport due to the mismatch of her name between her passport and tickets — and that she had nothing to do with carrying drugs whatsoever.
However, the film’s publicist Yuvaraj clarified the matter and informed DC that Nayan was already in Chennai. “Nayanthara went to KL and joined Vikram sir, who was already shooting for Iru Mugan directed by Anand Shankar, for the last two weeks at locations Putrajaya and Sha Alam. Nithya Menen was also part of the shoot. There was no major issue for her at the KL International Airport, and it was a minor discrepancy of stamping with respect to the work permit on Nayan’s passport.”
He adds, “There are two different terminals at KLIA and Nayan’s passport had her work permit stamped at one of the airports, while she had checked in through the other terminal. The actress herself had sorted out the issue and boarded the flight and was back in the city on February 3.” He also reveals that the Malaysian line producer of Iru Mugan had already filed a complaint with the CoP about the mischief-makers who are spreading false news.
