Minister says Telangana has most gurukul schools in India
WARANGAL: Tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathod asserted that Telangana is the only state in country, which has the highest number of gurukul residential schools. They are part of state government’s commitment to provide poor students free education from KG to PG, she underlined.
The minister, accompanied by Mahabubabad MLA Shankar Naik, ZP chairperson A. Bindu and district collector K. Shashanka, inaugurated the newly constructed Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Backward Class Girls Welfare Residential School at Ameenpur in Kesamudram of Mahabubabad district on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Satyavathi said even though Telangana is the youngest state in the country, it is heading towards enormous all-round development under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
By establishing more than 1,000 gurukul schools, the government is providing quality education to poor students. Looking at the quality of education, many parents are coming forward to join their children in government-established gurukul schools, she stated.
The minister disclosed that the tribal welfare department has issued orders for establishment of a tribal welfare school in Mahabubabad district. Steps will be taken to ensure that it is started at the earliest.
She further pointed out that state government has converted 3,146 tribal tandas into village panchayats in the state, 205 of these tandas being in Mahabubabad district. She said Rs. 20 lakh have been sanctioned for construction of each of these village panchayat buildings.
The minister also distributed Kalyana Lakshmi cheques to beneficiaries and Christmas gifts to people of the Christian community.
Revenue divisional officer Ramesh, DSP Sadaiah, DRDA project director Sanyasaiah, ZPTC Srinivas Reddy, MPP Chandramohan, sarpanch Roja Ramani, RCO Ram Reddy and BC welfare officer Swamy were among those present.
